Global Domination Comes to Zulama!

Our students conquered the world this past week during their session with Mr. Rettig in Zulama as they learned the basics of Risk.  Mr. Dean, from Pittsburgh Cares, also stopped by to discuss the stigma of mental illness, as well as ways to overcome adversity.  

January Update

The Saturday Light Brigade boys are working hard on creating audio dialogue relating to current events that can be heard here. There are more to come in the upcoming weeks!

Also, the Sense of Place Learning group are currently conducting research for their biology project displays.

New year fun!

The Saturday Light Brigade boys are busy composing electronic music with audio software called FL Studio. Down the hallway our Sense of Place learners are putting their finishing touches on their handcrafted Insect Hotels.

Zulama Fun

The boys in the Zulama Class have been hard at work attempting to solve the puzzles located in a independent video game called Botanicula.

Wednesdays at TIGERS

Mr. Dean Richards of Pittsburgh Cares speaks to our students about the role and importance of understanding diversity.  Meanwhile, our boys worked on their problem-solving skills while exploring the world of Botanicula during their session in the Zulama Room.

Sense of Place Construction Site

The Sense of Place Learning group is hard at work piecing together their insect habitat boxes. They are currently constructing the wood frame which will hold the scavenged plants and other natural objects they have already collected.

Visit to SLB Studios

The Saturday Light Brigade boys took a trip to the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh recently to visit a functioning radio station recording studio. While there they recorded a Thanksgiving themed message for IQ Kids Radio and gained hands on experience in radio production.
